I came to Bologna and Paris with the goal of encouraging new models of interactions between Museums and Creative Technologists. I'm doing this because I believe that there are real sources of value to be found in the intersection of art, tech, academia, cultural content, and business. We made this work at the MediaLab, and I know it can work elsewhere.
Thing 1: Museum People and Tech People Have More in Common Than You Think
And their core, art geeks and tech geeks are both geeks. Detail-oriented, meritocratic, creative, and sometimes bit pedantic, they are in love with their domain. If you give them a chance to see those traits in each other, to recognize kindred spirits, you have the makings of a wonderful partnership.
